Desiring Knowledge
Join me once again as I dive into Proverbs!
This is a book full of short verses that are packed with deep insights and I have genuinely been enjoying meditating on this book in these beginning summer months.
I'm constantly convicted and challenged as I rest in these truths. God's word really is sharper than a double-edged sword; it's just another reason to be in awe of who He is and how He reaches out to us and speaks to our hearts.
Today's chapter was chapter 19. The verse that spoke to me most this week was verse 2. It states, "Desire without knowledge is not good - how much more will hasty feet miss the way!". Many times in life, we can hastily make decisions and rush through the everyday decision-making without evaluating if we're in align with God's plan for us. People get married without knowing who they're marrying; some people jump from job to job without considering if their skills and talents are being used the way they were intended to; and when they've come to question how they got to where they are, then they decide to slow down and ask God to help because they feel that they have fallen off the path.
I just finished reading Crystal Paine's Money Making Mom and she emphasized not rushing into things too soon and evaluating the costs of starting your business. She talks about times when it is good to take risks, but that we should stop and evaluate if our gifts/talents/skills are aligning with what we are striving for. She believes that before making huge commitments we should carefully consider our options. Nick and I are in a fast-paced season of growing his electrical business. It's very exciting to see Nick using his skills and gifts while working for himself! The challenges are present for sure, but we're trusting in God's timing with everything and when we put Him in the lead it makes it less overwhelming and reminds us that we are doing everything for His glory. Our goal is to grow our business to a point where we can step back a little and help others with our finances and time.
I definitely rely on God to give me the knowledge that I need, both in spiritual matters and in a worldly sense too. Knowledge, in any case, will make people take you more seriously and will spur on personal growth as well! Striving for knowledge in all areas of life is the start to success. Hasty feet are feet that jump into the unknown before they are ready. We've all been there and learned valuable lessons. We need to have faith, but we also need to make sure we are leaning on Christ and looking to Him for guidance. My goal is to obtain knowledge that will guide me spiritually and knowledge that will spur on growth as a wife, mother, friend and family member. I desire God's will for my life and want to grow in the knowledge of Him!
