Dear Future Daughter (Letter 1)

Dear future daughter,
I'm writing to you to encourage and challenge you as you grow into a young woman. As your mother and as the person whom God entrusted with one of His most beautiful creations (that's you), I am taking on the responsibility and the blessing of praying for you fervently as you mature and grow. There's going to be many challenges and many blessings in your life. There will be tears of pain and tears of joy. There will be times when you know where you are going and what you are doing, and then there will be other times when you're not quite sure if you're where you should be. My prayer is that through all the ups and downs that are thrown your way, you'd be able to stand strong in your faith and hold tight onto your Creator who loves and knows you more than anyone else. I know and pray that God will continue to give me the strength to not only be your closest companion, but also your grounded leader who will hold you accountable as you enter into adulthood and independence.
I already know that independence is going to run through your veins. You're going to be one of the strongest people I know... but this doesn't mean that you need guidance. We all need the power of Christ in our lives. We all need His saving grace to cover our lives. And we all need to keep Christ the center of our lives. "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6)"
God has given you everything you need to walk closely with Him. He has provided His holy Word to guide you like a map. He has given rules to living a godly and fulfilling life. Not one single person has followed His will for our lives perfectly; "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", but His mercy is overwhelming and He waits with open arms whenever we decide to come running back to Him.
When you accept Jesus as Lord of your life, He will give you the Holy Spirit to walk with you throughout your life. You will be able to discern from good and evil because of His Spirit. Others will be able to see God working in your life. And you will never ever be alone. Whenever you are feeling lonely, know that He is right there with you and He is the greatest Comforter. He has appointed your father and I to be right there for you as well, so you know you can always come to us with anything.
Your father and I are not perfect. We are humans and we are sinners. We will do our best to raise you in the Lord and to keep God the center of our family. There will probably be times when you are angry with us or we are disappointed in you, but that doesn't change our love for you. We will always work through it and we will do our best to protect our family's tight bonds.
I love you very much and I just want you to know that before you were even born, I was praying for who you were going to be and I am filled with so much joy already thinking about getting to know you. God's hand will always be on the blueprint of your life. I look forward to growing closer to Him with you.
Love,
Sara D.
