Book Review - Money Making Mom

Today I am reviewing a book that I had a hard time putting down all the way to the last chapter! It is called Money Making Mom - How every woman can earn more and make a difference, by Crystal Paine. The copyright date is 2015 and it was published by Nelson Books in Nashville, Tennessee. I purchased my copy of this book from Abebooks.com for just $3.55 with free shipping. (I purchase most of my books used from this website; it is trustworthy and you can find great deals!)
Crystal Paine wrote New York Times bestseller Say Goodbye to Survival Mode and started her blogging journey in 2007 with MoneySavingMom.com. Her blog and books are now very popular, her blog alone bringing in up to 1.2 million readers per month!

Moms out there, or even women out there who just want some sound financial advice, I would highly suggest picking up this book and giving it a read! The compelling stories woven into this book boost big ideas you may already be having and guide you through discovering your unique skills, passions and knowledge! I give it a 5/5 stars and would pass it on to anyone!

Crystal's voice and wisdom are both clearly seen throughout the pages of this book. I felt engaged and connected to her story from the very beginning! With each new idea, I felt intrigued and that I could relate to what she was saying. I'm in a season of my life where I am willing to learn and grow and am seeking out advice and knowledge from individuals with an entrepreneurial-mindset to help my husband out as he starts his own business! I believe that I may one day be called to start a business of my own as well, whether it is something big or something small right out of my home. I'm not quite sure 100% what that will look like, but either way Crystal's book has tons of insight to walk away with.

Something that stood out to me was Crystal's way of remaining flexible in her ideas while delivering her advice confidently and backing them up with her experiences. This combination seen throughout her book allows for a very refreshing read.  I'll give you an example from page 34 of the book which states, "An important lesson I learned was this: just because you find a need, you might not be the person to fill that need. In addition, a business idea that might work well for someone else won't necessarily work for you. When determining a business idea to pursue, focus on the areas you already excel in and that you enjoy. There is no point in spending enormous amounts of time trying to develop or hone skills you don't and won't possess". For everybody this advice will look different because of our different goals, gifts and talents, but Crystal is speaking to everybody and is giving such sound wisdom.

Although Crystal focuses a lot on sharing stories and experiences about businesses and how to be successful, she also spends quite a few chapters of the book encouraging women to find ways to give wholeheartedly. "But we weren't created to be consumers. We were made for more. We are destined to be stewards, wise managers of not just our money but also our time, our values, and our priorities" (Page 164).  She does an excellent job at writing in a way that challenged your thoughts and encourages you to chase your purpose fervently. With Crystal being a believer and a child of God, it made reading the book go by that much quicker, because it was evident that her faith drove her forward and was behind all of her motives in her writing.

I definitely will be reading more from Crystal Paine in the future and will keep visiting her blog time and time again for more amazing and practical advice.
