Wisdom Calls Daily
I have been diving into the book of Proverbs the past couple of weeks. I wake up each morning, battling that infamous nausea created by our little, growing blessing and I choose to dig right into God's Word. There really is no better comfort than reading the scriptures while playing worship music or sitting in complete silence. It doesn't always help the morning sickness subside, but it does give me hope and joys to look forward to when we meet our little one!
I was challenged this week by chapter 4 in Proverbs. Solomon is writing about how his father, David, encouraged and challenged him to seek wisdom in his younger years. Solomon then writes to his people to follow in his fathers footsteps and lets his children known that he hopes they seek wisdom above everything else. This is every believing parents' hope for their children. I have already experienced that yearning and desire for my own children one day. Reading through verses 10-19 really gave me a heart to pray this for my child, even now before it's born. (The scripture is in italics and then my thoughts and prayers are in regular print.)
"Listen, my son, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many.
I instruct you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths."
I can only do this by the grace of God, who gives us all wisdom and understanding! He is the one who will lead you down the right path, but He will use me to help guide along the way.
"When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
when you run, you will not stumble."
I want you to be able to run this spiritual race for so long and with so much endurance! Although I know that everyone stumbles and I know I will not be perfect every step of the way, my prayer is that your faith foundation will be so strong that nothing will ever truly bring you down!
"Hold onto instruction, do not let it go;
guard it well, for it is your life.
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evildoers.
Avoid it, do not travel on it;
turn from it and go your own way."
You will know what is right, God will guide you to be able to fight any temptation! I pray our relationship will be so close that you will come to me whenever you feel trapped, lonely, or confused.
"For they cannot rest until they do evil;
they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
They eat bread of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence.
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
shining ever brighter til the full light of day."
This light of the righteous grows brighter! This means it is a growing light not a fading one! My prayer is that your knowledge and confidence of the Lord will grow so this light that shines will draw everyone around you into it!
"But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble."
Those who are lost won't see that they are doing wrong; my prayer is that you grow up being sensitive to the will of God and that, because of your faith, you will help to guide others to be closer to our Savior.
