Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
It's Fall Y'all! Pumpkin everything and warm scarves, fall is my favorite! |
Especially falls here in Maine. The leaves are rapidly changing from every shade of green to vibrant colors of burnt orange, golden yellow, and fiery reds. Whether it's raining for three days straight or the sun is shining brighter than ever, the smell of change lingers in the crisp air. The breeze brushes up against our cheeks and encourages us to wrap our plaid scarves around and tighten our jackets to us like one big hug. While some people may find the new temperature changes offensive, I always welcome it with a smile. Autumn is absolutely my favorite.
So let's start with the list, shall we? It's always great to grab a notepad and pen and jot down what you are feeling thankful for. I always enjoy reading about what others are grateful for; it truly gives some insight into someone's unique personality. Today, I'm creating a list of things that make me feel cozy and just bring me joy and fill my heart with gratitude...
1. Fellowship with believers - simply gathering together as a family, studying the word of God in depth, praying for the will of Christ to be done and eating tasty meals together while the room fills with reverence, joy and laughter
2. Sipping on an espresso and cream beverage that has been crafted and shaken in a mason jar - that first taste always brings delight to my soul- any sort of crafted coffee beverage that I picked up at a local shop makes me stop and smile - the interactions in the lines and with the baristas and fellow coffee addicts always create fond memories as well
3. Opening a fresh page in a new journal, surrounded by colorful pens and endless thoughts... oh the possibilities...
4. (Can anyone relate to the next cozy thing?) Using a foundation or other makeup product that you haven't used in a long time - the smell of that product as you brush it along your cheeks will bring you back to a different time in your life - almost as effective as a time machine
5. A clean kitchen to start the day cooking in, and a clean bedroom to come crashing into when you are done with a long day
6. Piling a stack of warm blankets on top of my cold feet while I climb into bed with a good book - finishing up that last chapter of a great study or novel
7. Listening to a friend talk about something that they are passionate about - seeing their eyes light up with excitement is enough to completely change my mood around
8. Putting together gifts for someone who's been on my mind - writing them a card or letter to lift their spirits
9. (New to my husband and I in this season of our life) dreaming about girly activities and putting away pink pajamas as we prepare for a new addition to our family - bonding with her while she is still growing inside of me has been one of the most surreal things I've ever experienced
10. Seeing prayers, big or small, being answered right before my eyes - God's faithfulness is something to be admired every day
11. Sitting down with my husband, enjoying a warm new recipe - bonus points if it becomes a repeat dinner for future meals
12. The overwhelming love and support from family - I am so blessed to have the family that we do
13. Having a husband who is also my best friend - going on adventures with Him, getting to know Him, seeing His passion for people and watching Him chase His dream of having His own thriving business
14. Sifting through magazines and books, gathering ideas and crafting with cutouts of all the things I loved in them
I could go on for quite awhile, but I'll continue to write them down in my journal and spend time drinking my coffee and thanking God for this season of my life. Keep scrolling for some recent photos!
