A Walk Down Main Street
I walk along the dusty street,
the crisp clicking of my heels echo.
The strap of my bag clings to my shoulder,
my ears listen earnestly, awaiting inspiration to strike.
The sun beams down
on this little town.
Children grasp loosely onto their mothers' hands,
bakers set out bright signs, enthused with the hope of something new.
I peer into the local coffee shop and spot familiar faces,
my mind wanders to the empty spaces.
I wonder how many lives have passed through these shops,
these bustling busy lives are all around.
A quick smile appears as a couple kisses goodbye,
going their separate ways.
Birds chirp melodious songs in the distance
business voices pass through phones.
My stretch has ended, I turn around,
I see God's love for creation, it abounds and abounds.
